We are sad to report the death of “Bob the Bass” on Friday 5th Feb 2010.
Bob had been suffering from lung cancer for several months but “never one to give up”, continued playing his beloved Eb with us almost until the end.
He first joined the band as a youngster in 1968 playing under John Fleming, before joining the Police Force as a cadet in 1973. His work with the police meant that he was based in the Midlands for many years before returning to Morecambe 6 yrs ago.
We shall miss him greatly for his unfailing cheerfulness and total dedication to our Band. Banding was his life and he never missed a rehearsal whether it was helping with the Youth Band, The Brass Ensemble or The Senior Band.
We offer our sympathy to his father John Disney and to his two daughters Helen and Carole. Bob’s funeral will be held next Wednesday 17th Feb at 1.15 pm at Lancaster Crematorium. All players past and present are invited to come and join us as we honour Bob with our music.

The Senior Band competed in the Second Section at Wilkinson's St. Helen's Contest on Sunday 15th November. Performing Triptych by Philip Sparke, we were delighted to win Second Place, with Chris Larder (our former conductor who many of you are familiar with) storming the section, winning the trophy for best solo performer. Nice one Chris! |

The band competed at Fleetwood Contest yesterday (Sunday 4th Oct) and achieved a very creditable 5th place with 183 points. Pretty good going for our new foray into the Second Section, and an enjoyable day was had by all. |
